He has won the Friendship Award of the Chinese government, the friendship Chime Bell Award of Hubei Province, and won the Second Prize of Natural Science of Hubei Province

Tim Kusky's main research fields are plate tectonics and early Earth history, geological disasters, the application of remote sensing geology in mineral and water resources exploration, and the relationship between human and natural environment. He has conducted global tectonic research in North America, Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Anatolia, Turkey, and the rims of the Indian and Pacific Ocean Pacific Oceans. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in London, the Academia Europaea is one of the most extensive and influential scientific organizations across regions and academic fields in the world, representing the highest scientific level and academic status of the European humanities and natural sciences. Academicians of the Academia Europaea come from 35 European and 8 non-European countries, including outstanding European scientists in the fields of humanities, social sciences, material sciences, life sciences, mathematics, engineering sciences and medicine, or scientists with long-term close cooperation with Europe, including more than 70 Nobel Prize winners. Candidates are first recommended to the Ministry of Science by Academicians from different countries, and then recommended to the Nomination Committee for communication review after preliminary review by the Ministry of Science, and finally approved by the Special Committee of the European Academy of Sciences. Only a small number of scientists outside the European Union can be elected as Foreign Academicians, with a proportion of less than 5% of the entire Academy membership.
