Invited by Professor Timothy Kusky, Dr. Wang Hao, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, came to our school for exchange and made academic reports.
Reporting time: Monday, June 19, 2017, 3:00 p.m.
Report location: main building 308

Topic: metamorphism and chronology of the melange zones in the middle south of the Dunhuang orogenic belt

Biography: Wang Hao, graduated from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, currently works as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Geology and geophysics at the Chinese Academy of sciences. Dr. Wang Hao is dedicated to the study of metamorphism and high precision dating of the Dunhuang orogenic belt. For the first time, eclogites have been discovered in the Dunhuang area. The Dunhuang orogenic belt is first proved to be a Paleozoic subduction orogenic belt. He won the "President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Award"  and was selected as the "post doctoral innovative personnel support program" in 2017. Participate in three National Natural Science Foundation research projects, published 3 papers in international journals such as Geology as the first author.
Brief introduction of the report:
The melange belt formed at the convergent plate margin is an important window to record the tectonic evolution of the orogenic belt. The report takes the Paleozoic Dunhuang orogenic belt in the southern tectonic block as the research object, through the metamorphism and high precision dating research, discusses the metamorphic and tectonic melange belt of Paleozoic eclogite. The report demonstrated in Dunhuang area formed by the sucduction and collision process during the Silurian-Devonian, while not the Precambrian basement.
