Introduction
      Shihong Zhang born in 1964, is from Minquan County, Henan Province. He is an independent party member and a second-level professor at China University of Geosciences (Beijing). He graduated from the Applied Geophysics program at the former Changchun Institute of Geology in 1985, and obtained a Doctor degree in Structural Geology from Nanjing University in 1992. He have visited and studied at the University of Western Australia and Yale University. Shihong Zhang engaged in research on paleomagnetism and geotectonics for a long time, and has achieved multiple academic achievements with significant international influence in the fields of Precambrian supercontinent evolution, major geological event processes, and deep structures of orogenic belts. He served as the editor of the Journal of the Geological Society, editorial board member of  journals such as the Chinese Journal of Scientific Earth Sciences, voting committee member for the International Classification of the Ice Age, deputy chairman of the China Paleomagnetic Professional Committee, and deputy chairman of the Precambrian Geological Professional Committee. He have presided over multiple key and general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and have published over 200 papers in important  journals such as Nature Communications, Science Advances, Geology, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Journal of Geophysical Research, Chinese Science, and Science Bulletin. He has won the first prize in land and resources science and technology (2003), and was selected for the New Century Excellent Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education (2004), and got the special government allowance of the State Council (2009). In 2021, he was elected as a GSA Fellow .
